Bio

Matt Winston brings a diverse body of work as a theatre actor and sketch comedian to his role as struggling stand-up comedian Adam Lewis in FAME L.A. A native Californian, Winston is a graduate of Yale University where he spent four years performing in theatre productions and touring the country as a member of the renowned Yale Exit Players. He served as the company's artistic director from 1991-1992.

Winston returned to Los Angeles in 1992. Since then, he has performed with The Groundlings Sunday Company, the famed sketch comedy and improv group, and recently completed the lead role in SHOOTING LILY, and independent film by Arthur Borman. He traveled to Slovakia for his role in THE PEACEMAKER, a Dreamworks SKG film directed by Mimi Leder scheduled for release in Fall 1997. His television credits include "Moloney," "High Incident" and "Married With Children." Winston has also appeared in over 50 commercials.

Winston views landing his role on FAME L.A. as a "perfect fit." "This is a dream part. It's the culmination of years of preparation and timing. Not only am I intimately familiar with the world of struggling sketch comedians, I also get to call upon and deepen my dramatic acting skills." He is impressed with his fellow cast members. "It's like old Hollywood on the set. Everyone's not only acting, but singing and dancing as well. It's an incredible opportunity for a group of people with disparate talents to learn from each other."
