La Mission

La Mission, a film by Peter Bratt, starring Benjamin Bratt, Erika Alexander, Jeremy Ray Valdez, Jesse Borrego & Talisa Soto Bratt makes it's world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Jesse Borrego, the San Antonio-born actor, calls “La Mission” a beautiful film that will have an impact on audiences. It tells the story of a traditional Latino father who struggles to come to terms with his teenage son’s homosexuality.
Borrego says he’d like to screen the film in San Antonio this year at a film festival he’s trying to organize through his Cine Studio San Antonio, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to developing artists and filmmakers.

The Road Show To Be Recorded

The Public Theatre's production of the Stephen Sondheim-John Weidman musical Road Show will be preserved on CD. The cast of the recent Public Theater engagement of Road Show (which included Michael Cerveris) will assemble in February to record the single CD; a spring in-store arrival is likely. Sondheim announced plans for the cast recording during an interview with New York Times columnist Frank Rich at Avery Fisher Hall on Jan. 18.



The Compass Premiere

In celebration of the launch of the groundbreaking film, "The Compass," the creators are throwing a premiere party, which is open to the public. The premiere will take place at the Grove of Anaheim on Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:30PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet with the cast and crew of "The Compass" including Brian Tracy, Debbie Allen, Dr. John Spencer Ellis, Dr. Topher Morrison, and Dr. Joe Vitale; leaders in the fitness industry; as well as several reality TV stars and Hollywood executives.

January 16th was Debbie Allen's birthday! I meant to put up an announcement about it on that day but I haven't been online much, if at all, the last two days so I missed it. So, I would like to wish Debbie a Happy Belated Birthday! I hope she had a wonderful day.


Debbie Choreographs "Obama Rock"

Barack Obama may have put the spring back in America's step, but Debbie Allen has found a way to give it rhythm. The Emmy-, Golden Globe- and Tony Award-winning choreographer directed the music video -- which made its debut Tuesday on MySpace -- for newly released pop track "Obama Rock." Allen selected 12 children attending her Culver City dance academy on scholarships to participate in the video, which she choreographed. Debbie can be seen in the video as well.
