I got an email from Loretta Chandler yesterday with the following message:

"This is Loretta and I wanted to let you know that I've started a non-profit company that gives back to those who want a chance to become stars. It's called VEPAG. LoveMusik CD Recording Photos

As I mentioned in the previous post, Michael Cerveris recently went into the studio to recording the soundtrack to the musical LoveMusik. Broadway World has quite a few pictures of Michael and Donna Murphy while at the recording studio.

LoveMusik to Be Released on CD

LoveMusik, the Broadway musical about the lives of composer Kurt Weill and his wife, actress Lotte Lenya, was recorded by Ghostlight Records on Sunday, July 15.

The show ran for 60 regular performances and 24 previews at Manhattan Theatre Club's Biltmore Theater. The show was nominated for four Tony Awards.

LoveMusik starred Michael Cerveris as Weill and Donna Murphy as Lenya.



Debbie Allen Directs Online Series

Nickelodeon is testing the waters of original online content with the July 22 launch of its first broadband series.The 15-minute, five-episode series, dubbed "Nick Cannon's Star Camp," will follow eight youngsters as they work toward success and stardom in the high-stakes world of music.

Director Debbie Allen and choreographer Fatima Robinson will join music industry legend Quincy Jones, his son Quincy Jones III, and series star Nick Cannon behind the scenes.



Roots: The Next Generation

Roots: The Next Generation, the 1977 mini-series, which starred both Debbie Allen and Irene Cara is being released on DVD on October 9th. The cover art features both Irene and Debbie, among other cast members.

According to the official site for So You Think You Can Dance, Debbie Allen is going to be the guest judge this week. The show airs Wednesday at 8/7c and Thursday at 9/8c on Fox.

Duet with Irene Cara

The first album on Australian Sun Records for musician and actor David Hudson is scheduled for release in April or May and will include Hudson in duets with Troy Cassar-Daley, Shane Howard (formerly of Goanna) and Irene Cara, of Fame fame. The album will be released in Australia first and later in the US.

The Manhattan Theater Club assembles a top-shelf collection of musical-theater talents who, if they pooled their resources, could fill a walk-in closet with their awards. Michael Cerveris and Donna Murphy star as Kurt Weill and his muse and wife, Lotte Lenya, in a globetrotting romance with songs by Weill. Previews begin April 12. Opens May 3. Discussion Panel

In honor of Black History Month Women in Film will present a panel discussion on the African-American experience working in Hollywood on Feb. 28 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Actor Holly Robinson Peete will moderate the panel, which includes television creator-producer Mara Brock Akil, film producer Stephanie Allain, director-actor-choreographer-producer Debbie Allen, television and film producer Debra Martin Chase, and producer-writer-director Angela Robinson.

Discussion topics will include the panelists' careers, what motivates and drives them, the obstacles and issues they've faced as black women in Hollywood, and their hopes for future African-American filmmakers and performers.

Registration for the event begins at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and discussion from 8-10 a.m. Cost is $65. RSVP must be received no later than Feb. 26. Payment will not be accepted at the door. For more information or to RSVP, visit
