A native New Yorker, Carlo Imperato was born in the Bronx, and unlike many of the stars of Fame, his parents were not involved in the theatre. Carlo went to an ordinary school until he auditioned for and won a part on a show called The Runaways which ran for a year on Broadway. Carlo continued his education after this first success at the Professional Children's School, and went on to many other roles before winning the part of Danny Amatullo in Fame.

Danny Amatullo is the show's comedian, never short of a joke to crack, but discovering along the way that life is a lot more serious than he would like to believe. Luckily for Danny, he always bounces back after his numerous disappointments, refusing to be beaten, and it is this which makes him so popular.

Carlo's major passion is acting, of course, but when he has a moment to spare, he loves playing American football, basketball and soccer.
