Carlo Imperato was born and brought up in the Bronx, an area of New York, and attended Columbus High School. While a student there he heard that auditions were being held for an off-Broadway show called The Runaways. Though he had had no previous acting experience Carlo won a part in the show, and stayed with it for its one-year run.

The acting bug had now bitten, and Carlo decided to continue his education at a special theatre school, the Professional Children's School.

He made his television debut in a movie for NBC, The Hayburners, and acted in the feature films Enormous Changes at the Last Minute, and The Man in the Santa Suit, but it is Fame which has really brought fame for Carlo, his portrayal of wise-cracking Danny Amatullo makes him one of the most popular members of the cast.

Carlo loves acting above anything else, and enjoyed touring the world with the Fame stage show, but when he has a little spare time he enjoys playing soccer, basketball and American football.
