Applause started around her, and then swelled. Everyone was looking at her, and she had no idea what was going on. Coco gave her a firm push towards the stage, and once Doris had started to move the crowd parted before her and she kept walking. Whistles and rebel yells accompanied her as she climbed the steps onto the stage.
